International Seminar will bring together family farmers from Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina in Sobral-CE
Farmers, farmers, technicians and technicians from Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay will meet in the city of Sobral, Ceará, to participate in the International Seminar “Semi-arid in Latin America: exchanging knowledge and dreams”, and in an exchange with visits to rural communities in rural area of the municipality to learn about successful experiences in the region. The events will be held in person, respecting all health protocols, and will have activities in the areas of technology; solidary commercialization in agroecological fairs; organization in Agroecological and Solidarity Farmers' Networks; social technologies of coexistence with the semiarid region, and agroecological technical advice.
The program will start next Thursday (25th) with a visit to the agroecological kiosk in Sobral and will continue until December 3rd, with the holding of the International Seminar, which will have moments for participants to present about the experiences visited throughout the week. . A hybrid LIVE will also be held at the Agroecological Kiosk, with members of Networks and Organizations.
The objective of the two events is to promote the Fair of Knowledge and Flavors, to share experiences from the Paulo Freire and Saberes do Semiárido projects, in addition to providing an exchange of information between participants from other countries covering social technologies, management of agroecosystems, agroecological production, processing and marketing of agroecological products.
Visits to the Escola Família Agroecológica (EFA) Family Regina – Boqueirão/Areias are scheduled for the exchange; the Community of Santa Luzia, in Sobral; and the Tremembé Indigenous Land in Barra do Mundaú, in Itapipoca. Participants will also follow the construction of technologies such as an ecological stove, a biodigester and implementation of a water reuse system. The intention is to make these techniques replicated in the participants' countries of origin.
The exchange and seminar are carried out by Aksaam, through Cetra and the Saberes do Semiárido project, and are supported by the Paulo Freire project, initiatives financed by the International Agricultural Development Fund (IFAD), in Ceará.
