The Project

AKSSAM, Adapting Knowledge for Sustainable Agriculture and Market Access, is a project working to alleviate rural poverty with a focus on sustainable agricultural development to promote food and nutrition security in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). )
To this end, the project works to improve the access of family farmers to technologies and knowledge, increase their productivity and improve the conditions of access to markets, with Latin America and the Caribbean as operating locations.
AKSAAM is a program of the International Fund for Agricultural Development - IFAD, and executed by the Institute of Public Policies and Sustainable Development - IPPDS, linked to the Federal University of Viçosa - UFV

ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGIES

  • Survey of technologies aimed at family farming already developed and systematized by UFV and partners, to improve available knowledge.
  • Identify technological demands and bottlenecks faced by farmers that, if resolved, could lead to innovations, increased productivity and better access to markets
  • Identify possible solutions to technological problems of farmers developed by UFV and partners
  • Adapt technologies to identified bottlenecks and beneficiary conditions

SOUTH-SOUTH TRIANGULAR COOPERATION

  • Carry out work missions, visits and meetings with groups of family farmers who are beneficiaries of IFAD projects and their organizations.
  • Organize technical events for the presentation and discussion of public policies and the environment.
  • Articulate research centers and disseminate technologies in the project region.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

  • Promote events and exchanges to share challenging experiences of technological innovation and market access.
  • Systematize publications that report experiences and lessons learned.
  • Integrate existing digital platforms for knowledge exchange, including UFV, IFAD and partners websites.
